About the event

“If you could only sense how important you are to the lives of those you meet; how important you can be to the people you may never even dream of. There is something of yourself that you leave at every meeting with another person."--Fred Rogers

Join Tara Clark, a former Peace Corps volunteer, portrait photographer, long time Seattleite, mother of two, founder of Believe LOVE Unite and Human Connectivity Conservationist for the inaguaral Conversations with The World In My Backyard. Tara is passionate about the importance of connecting with people outside our familiar silos. As a global backpacker, she believes we need to live in our communities with the open mind and heart of a traveler to enable us to understand our communities and ourselves better, creating a more united, healthy and supportive society.

This January 2020 gathering will kick off a monthly series of gatherings in community centers around Seattle. The goal of the gatherings will be to create a respectful and safe space for people to come together from all neighborhoods, walks of life and heritage to share stories and perspective, gain insights and build connections. Tara will share insights to the impact that she has experienced because of her willingness to connect with "strangers in her backyard" that continues to propel her work to create understanding and unity in our communities.

There will be zero expectation of commitment to return for a 2nd gathering or sign up to volunteer, donate or purchase anything. The only ask is that you come as you are, have the courage to come open-heartedly and be willing to talk with one person you do not know.
